In a community-wide effort, LaunchNW is collaborating with over 20 local organizations to bring the Mpower Mentoring Program to our local high schools for year two!

Mpower is driven by collective impact. Designed alongside local school districts, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and universities, Mpower connects high school students with mentors and other wraparound supports to help them reach their post-high school education and career of choice. Why are we asking this? We strive to have a team of mentors who reflect a representative body for our student mentees.

Mentorship Details




All mentor meetings will take place at the high school in which the student mentee is enrolled. Mentors are expected to meet with their student mentee 1-2 times per month for the duration of the academic year. Mentors will be expected to complete trainings and background checks prior to being matched with a student mentee.

Mentors will be assigned to one of our community partner organizations, who will coordinate meetings and provide other resources to ensure a successful mentor-student mentee partnership. To learn more about our community partners or if you have questions, please visit our website.

Notice and Authorization for Background Check
This is to inform you that LaunchNW  may obtain information about you and/or your history related to potential criminal activity. The report from authorized sources may include, among other information, arrest, conviction, and final board disciplinary decisions. Information obtained by LaunchNW will be used only for the purposes of assessing your suitability to become a mentorAs provided by State Law (RCW 43.43.830) a disclosure statement must be made by an applicant, and background inquiries may be made of certain civil adjudication's, conviction records or crimes against persons and disciplinary board final decisions prior to appointment to positions which have unsupervised access to youth.  

Such inquiries may be made to state and/or federal law enforcement agencies. Information obtained from the disclosure statement, or from the background inquiries, will not necessarily preclude appointment, but will be considered in determining the applicant's character, suitability, and competence to person in the position applied for and may result in a denial of appointment. The use of the record of these inquiries will be restricted to the decision on your application. Background check results will be made available to you within 10 days of the report being run.
If you wish to be considered for a mentor position, you must complete and sign this application and associated forms. Failure to do so will disqualify you for any mentor appointment. Please proceed below.
